Hello and welcome to the Illinois Biodiesel Initiative website! IBI is a registered student organization at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We were formed in 2006 as a local Engineers Without Borders initiative. Our work involves collecting waste vegetable oil from university dining halls and recycling it into biodiesel and biodiesel products for all of the university’s diesel vehicles.
Current projects include quality testing, production scale-up of liquid biodiesel glycerin soap, and a non-profit business model.
